YOUTH SPEAKS - DISTRICT HEAT TO RETURN TO BIDDULPH IN 2018!

Following the resounding success of the District heat held in Biddulph on January 18th, Rotary North West and Isle of Man has requested that The Rotary Club of Biddulph once again hosts a District heat in 2018. The club now confirms that this will take place on Monday 22nd January 2018.


​SATURDAY 22nd APRIL 2017 - 'KNOW YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE' DAY.

Biddulph Rotary will be holding a special one-day drop-in session, where the public can get your blood pressure checked for free. Highly skilled medical staff will be on hand to check your blood pressure and give advice, pending the results of the test. Why not pop into Sainsbury's Biddulph between 10am and 4pm to get YOUR blood pressure checked?

​Over the past few years many unsuspecting people attended the drop-in sessions, and found that their BP was way off beam. Sound medical advice, given immediately, has undoubtedly helped people to take control of their own health, and in some cases assisted in urgent preventative measures being taken.

​It's free, it's painless, and takes five minutes of your time. Other people found time, so this year, make it YOUR turn.


SATURDAY 13th MAY 2017 - 'SWIMATHON 17'

The annual Biddulph Rotary Club Charity Swimathon will take place at Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre on Saturday 13th May 2017, between the hours of 3pm and 6pm.

​Ten Teams have already entered, and application forms plus sponsorship forms are available for anyone who wishes to have a go.

​Teams will consist of up to 6 persons, with the team swimming in relay for 50 minutes. There is no age limit for your team members. 50% of all money raised by your team will be returned to you, with the remaining 50% going towards charities supported by Rotary.

​Over the years this has proved to be a very successful event, with over £60,000 being raised since the event's inception.

WEDNESDAY 24th MAY 2017 - 'ACORN AWARDS'.

​        In conjunction with the Rebecca Harris Trust, Biddulph Rotary Club is once again hosting the annual ACORN AWARDS. The event will be held at The Bateman Centre on Wednesday 24th May 2017, doors open at 6pm and starting promptly at 6.30pm.

​        The Acorn Awards were introduced in 1989 by former Town Mayor of Biddulph Frank Harris and his wife Anne, who wanted to set up a memorial award in memory of their daughter Rebecca, who passed away in 1987.

​​        Once again we are offering you the opportunity to nominate someone for this year’s Acorn Award.
The Award can be made for a wide range of achievements; academic, sporting, artistic or in a caring capacity for unusual perseverance or courage and for service to others. In short the kind of achievement which would make any parent, guardian, or friend proud of their nominee.
        The Acorn Award takes the form of a framed Certificate for the three successful nominees, together with an annual trophy and cheque for £150 for the winner. Cheques for £75 each will be presented to the two runners-up.
        The Acorn Award also wants to recognise the efforts of a designated group of young people, who have been nominated by a responsible adult. In this category a financial award of £200 will be made. The award will be for a group project or activity which meets the Acorn Award criteria.
        Nominations must be in written form and from any responsible adult, parent, teacher, neighbour, youth worker etc. 
Nominees must be 21 years of age or under and have a home address, or attend a school or youth organization within the Biddulph area.
